Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessments

A comprehensive diagnostic assessment providing a detailed understanding of your child’s individual learning profile and whether their difficulties are consistent with dyslexia.

What’s included

Background information
Information is gathered from parents and school, together with relevant information from other professionals where appropriate. This is to help understand your child’s development, education and learning history before interpreting their assessment results.

Approximately 2 to 2.5 hours of one-to-one assessment
Your child completes a range of carefully selected, standardised assessments covering literacy (and numeracy if appropriate) and the underlying areas relevant to dyslexia. Breaks are available throughout and the assessment is carried out in a calm, supportive environment or in your home if preferred.

Detailed diagnostic report
You will receive a comprehensive written report explaining the results and diagnostic conclusion in clear language. It includes your child’s strengths and areas of difficulty together with practical, individual recommendations for school and home.

Follow-up telephone call
Once you have received the report, you can arrange a telephone call to discuss the findings and ask any questions you may have.

Learner Profile /Dyslexia Screener

A dyslexia screening can help identify whether your child is showing signs associated with dyslexia and whether a full diagnostic assessment may be appropriate. Screening looks at key areas of literacy and underlying skills to provide an initial picture of your child’s strengths and difficulties.

A screening can:

  • Identify signs that may be associated with dyslexia

  • Highlight areas of literacy difficulty

  • Help you decide whether to proceed to a full diagnostic assessment

  • Provide useful information about your child’s current literacy profile

Please note: a screening is not a diagnostic assessment and cannot diagnose dyslexia.

The screener is 1.5 hours and a detailed report is written within 3 weeks. The report contains your child's strengths, areas for support as well as interventions and strategies that can be used by both home and school.
